A total of six Kagan Cooperative learning activities were incorporated in my lesson plans.
1)Roundtable
A Roundtable activity was conducted during the discussion lesson,'Effects of burning fuels' in class VIII.The students were asked to form groups and charts were given to each group on which they wrote their points pertaining to the topic. The chart was circulated around the group and in this way the students wrote their points.
2)Think-Pair-Share
A Think-Pair-Share activity was conducted in class VI during the lesson,'Reversible Changes'.First, the students were asked to think to themselves individually and guess what topic they were going to learn. Then they were asked to form pairs and a blank sheet was distributed to them.Next they were asked to discuss with their partner what topic was being taught and were also asked to give a definition for the topic in their own words. Finally they had to share their views with the class.
3)Roundrobin
A Roundrobin activity was also conducted in class VI during the lesson,'Reversible Changes'.The students were asked to form groups among themselves and blank sheets were distributed to them. Then they were asked to generate their own examples of reversible changes by discusssing with each other and write them on the sheets. Then they were asked to share their examples to the class by asking one member to come forward and present them.
4)Pairs Check
A Pairs Check activity was conducted in class VI during the lesson,'Magnetic and Non-magnetic materials'.The students were asked to work in pairs within groups of four, such that within pairs students alternated. As one solved the problem the other coached. Then the pair checked to see if they had the same answers as the other pair.
5)Co-op Co-op
A Co-op Co-op activity was conducted in class VII during the lesson 'The Human Heart'.The students were asked to form groups of four among themselves and discuss what they could see in the chart shown to them.
6)Corners
A Corners activity was conducted in class VI during the lesson 'Poles of magnet'.The students were asked to go in each of the four corners of the classroom and discuss the differences between poles of magnet and poles of the Earth.
MY EXPERIENCE
The Kagan Cooperative learning activities proved to be instrumental in getting maximum engagement of the students and I myself enjoyed conducting the activities.
